Hello Everyone,
This past weekend, while performing his responsibilities at the rink, CT Chiefs Equipment Manager Bob DaLessio experienced a medical emergency suffering a Cerebrovascular accident, better known as a “Stroke". Bob was taken to New Britain Hospital to be evaluated and treated. A “Stroke” occurs when the blood supply to part of your brain is interrupted or reduced, preventing brain tissue from getting oxygen and nutrients. Brain cells begin to die in minutes. The end results can include partial paralysis, loss of speech and cognitive abilities. Despite the great care Bob received he has unfortunately been left with lasting symptoms and limited mobility including difficulty walking and limited use of the left side of his Body and Speech. His treatment will require intensive physical therapy at Mount Sinai Rehabilitation Hospital in Hartford over the next 2 weeks and then he will be re-evaluated for further treatments.
The treatment road aside, in this day and age we are all acutely aware of healthcare cost when experiencing a traumatic major medical event. There has been an outcry of support from many of you and the Hockey Community at Large as to how we can all help out Bob and his family. Medical bills are accruing and will continue to do so over the coming weeks, so one of the best ways we can all help is through donations to be used to offset the cost of care that will be required to get Bob back on his feet, back at the rink and back to 100%. If you or others would like to participate in helping out Bob and the Dalessio family you may do so here through Gofundme.com
