Bob Lowe's son, daughter, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren write today asking for your help.
Not only is Bob currently navigating over two and a half continuous months in the hospital, he and his wife, Jen, also lost their Des Moines-area home when it burnt to the ground Friday night, the 19th of January. They have lost everything material as well as their beloved birds. As you can imagine, they are facing an astronomical medical bill, and now a total loss of their home. They'll need to rebuild everything- from basic necessities like clothes and prescriptions to furniture and housewares. Some of these items will eventually be covered by insurance. That said, we know with certainty Bob's wheelchair accessible van will not be covered which is his only source of transportation to and from doctor visits, home, community, etc.
A number of you have asked how you can help, and right now their most pressing need is for Bob to have accessible and reliable transportation. Donations of any size can help us navigate the unknown expenses Bob and Jen face in the short term and hopefully provide the means to replace his accessible van.
As many of you know, our dad (Papa) is a fighter and has spent his entire life overcoming obstacles and beating the odds of survival. Even following the death of our cherished Mar, his dearest wife, Bob built this home in hopes of living out his retirement years with ease and beauty and even married his second wife within its walls. We know he will face this challenge with the same determination he's faced everything else. Your love and support bolster this perseverance and can tangibly have an impact on their livelihoods.
Thank you in advance!
