Bob and Illa are the kind of people who show up. For their family, for their friends, for strangers, for anyone who needs them.

Bob, a marine veteran spent over 20 years building a career in financial services, giving everything he had to every role he held. Illa has poured herself completely into raising their three young children — ages 6, 4, and 2 — and is their full-time caregiver due to all three kids having special needs and medical complexities.

This family has already been through more than most. Last year, all three of their children were diagnosed with a tethered spinal cord and underwent back surgery. Three kids. Three surgeries. All back to back and Illa was by their sides through every single one alone because Bob was traveling every week for work.

Earlier this year, Bob lost his job. Then on April 1st, his health insurance ended. Days later, his appendix ruptured and he developed sepsis in the hospital. He is now home recovering on antibiotics, with surgery scheduled in six weeks — all without health insurance, and with no income coming in and no savings. Even so, Bob is still actively searching for his next opportunity from his recovery bed, because that’s just who he is.

Illa cannot work outside the home due to all of the kids therapy and medical appointments.

The needs are immediate — surgery costs, medical bills, mortgage, utilities, and groceries. This campaign is simply a lifeline to help this family get through one of the hardest chapters of their lives.

Bob had lost his job in 2020 due to COVID-19 layoffs, and they were still recovering from that nine-month stretch of unemployment that had drained their savings and set them back financially.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
