Bob and Cornelia Cortes lost everything in a fire

On Wednesday February 27th, Port Orange FD Engine 71 was dispatched to the home of Bobby and Cornelia Cortes where a working fire with flames showing thru the roof was in progress. An aggressive interior attack was commenced, a water supply was established and crews began an orchestrated fire attack.

During the fire attack and primary searches, badly burned Bobby Cortes, beloved husband of Cornelia and father of Nuria and Elvia, was discovered inside. Bobby (on the day of his 79th birthday) was evacuated to ORMC where is he in the burn unit ICU. 

Bobby has a long road of recovery ahead of him. He is surrounded by the best best medical team at ORMC, and his loving family is steadfastly in prayer that he will make a full recovery.

While he is fighting to recover medically, Cornelia and her family have begun the process of rebuilding their life. Their home was a complete loss and thankfully insurance will cover the dwelling, but none of the contents. They have absolutely nothing. No place to call home, no clothes, no beds to lie their weary heads on. They have no basic personal necessities. We can help them though!
