Boaz peacefully crosses the rainbow bridge

Donation protected
8/6/2022
It is with a heavy heart to share with all of you that our sweet and loving Bo crossed the rainbow bridge today. His moms were by his side, comforting him as he peacefully left them.
Thank you to all who inquired and offered support in whatever way you could. Amber and Kayla are so appreciative, as am I. It never fails to amaze me how a community comes together when loved ones need it most.

Update 8/5/2022. Bo has returned home to spend his last days with his moms and kitties. The updated picture is from last night shortly after he arrived home. He appears to be comfortable and sleeps a lot. Amber and Kayla have a plan for each step of the way. Thank you all for your financial support, shares, comments, inquiries, thoughts, and prayers. The gofundme will remain open as we do not know what lies ahead for his time left, although we hang on to hope! For those of you who are seeing this for the first time, Bo's story is below.

Hi, my name is Laurie. I am here to tell you a story about my grand pup Boaz and his people. About 6 years ago, my daughter Amber wanted a pup so badly as she felt the pup would provide emotional support. For any of you who know Amber, you probably know she has a medical condition that has impacted her life. For the sake of her privacy, I won’t go into detail about her condition, however, it is very significant to the story I am telling.

We were going back and forth discussing the best approach to adopt a furbaby when someone contacted us about Boaz, who needed rehoming. Amber and Boaz had an immediate connection and he instantly began providing the emotional support she wanted. They grew to love each other quickly.

Whenever Amber wasn’t feeling well he quietly laid by her side, waiting patiently until she felt better, no matter how long that process took. Although Amber's condition has stabilized for the most part, Bo continues to support her whenever needed. The bond has become tremendously strong. He is so dearly loved, and not only by Amber.

Boaz is a fun, sweet and loving pup! He is silly and cuddly. His fur kitties love him as much as we do. When Amber married her wife Kayla, Bo took to her immediately and they have also bonded deeply. He loves providing emotional support so much he extends it to others. For example, when our Pepere John worsened with Alzheimer’s, Bo would visit him and he would stand close while John pet him.

Unfortunately though, Bo came with some health issues. From a very young age, Bo had digestion issues and allergies that required frequent vet visits and testing. Amber met all his needs and now Amber and her wife Kayla continue to care for him and their fur kitties. They are their children.

Yesterday, August 1, 2022, the vet called Amber and Kayla. Bo needed to go to Tufts immediately. It appears he has Lyme disease and his kidney levels are extremely dangerous. They don’t know what the outcome will be. He is wagging his tail and loving on all the staff, but he has lost weight, has little energy and not much appetite. Boaz is a young 6 years old. He deserves a chance and he will get one; although it’s a financial struggle for Amber and Kayla. Sadly, they also lost their furbaby Kitty last year, who also needed significant medical treatment. But they will do what it takes.

So I ask, if you can, to consider a donation to help this young couple with their baby. I know they will stretch their finances to the breaking point yet are reasonable and realistic, focusing on Bo's level of comfort. So, I decided to start this gofundme to see if we can help them. The initial admission deposit to Tufts is $2500. If you can not financially support them, as I recognize so many folks are financially struggling, maybe you would consider sharing this gofundme post? If you prefer to contact me, Boaz’s grandma, feel free to do so at any time.

We will continue to keep everyone posted as we move forward.
