Marvin was born on 16/07/2021. He had two homes prior to coming to us on 14/09/2025. We took him in as he was unhappy with another dog living in the home with him.

His name was changed to Marvin on arrival and pays homage to our previous pug, Hank. ♥️

Marvin is everything we said we didn’t want in a pug, with his little squashed face; however, he was unhappy and we had space in our home and hearts for him.

We immediately got to work setting him up at our vets, setting up a health plan and searching for insurance.

Whilst awaiting his registration appointment; on 26/09/2025 we took him in for an emergency consultation because his breathing was extremely laboured and a growing concern. We were told he had been bred poorly and would need BOAS surgery.

Unfortunately, the timing of his appointment means it is considered “pre existing” and wouldn’t be covered under his insurance.

We have a quote for the surgery, which is £2,467.

Marvin loves to follow us around the house, loves being going out in the car (and will attempt to get in any vehicle we pass on walks), going for walks, watching tv and most importantly he loves a snuggle!

Watching him daily is both a joy and a heartbreak. He wants to run, he wants to play, but he simply cannot do either for any considerable period of time. If he gets the zoomies, he gets close to fainting and we have to stop him. If he barks (he takes great insult at other dogs walking past him without stopping to say hi) he has to sit down to get his breath back.

We hope to get the surgery done as soon as possible, with our goal set on being able to do so in January, but despite us both working, this isn’t money we have to spare. We have approached a charity and were sadly told that as we’re not on benefits, they can’t help us.
