Support Team Makomp & Sierra Leone Skateboarding

Donation protected
We have completed Phase I of the skatepark, a mini-ramp!
We are hoping to expand, but in the meantime, skateboards and equipment remain difficult to get to Sierra Leone, and those that are there get a lot of wear and tear quickly.

Any donations ongoing will be used to support the local skate community with equipment and skate events

Your support is more than appreciated, we can't thank you enough

Future Plans:

Phase II = Flatground!

Flatground is more expensive due to the need for a lot more concrete, anything you are able to support us with will go a long way to expanding Sierra Leone's first skatepark at the end of this year!

(Background)
In Sierra Leone, West Africa, the opportunities for sports and recreational activities are very limited, especially outside of the capital Freetown. Our aim is to develop a skatepark and community centre in Makomp Village on land donated by the local community, to support the growing youth population in the Port Loko District of Sierra Leone.

This will be the first of its kind in Sierra Leone and will provide a safe space for the youth, men and women alike to engage in activities previously inaccessible to them, promoting sport and health seeking behaviour. With the skatepark at its centre, the community facilities will also include a social space for relaxation, stage space for music events and a solar lit study area for children to utilise after school when there is no light at home. Additionally a diverse range of tree and plant species will be planted at the bottom of the land to encourage biodiversity.

This project will be completed by Boarders Not Borders charitable skate organisation, in collaboration with The Cotton Tree Foundation, a local Sierra Leonean non-governmental organisation who will be managing other sports facilities such as football pitch, tennis court and basketball court as well as help oversee the project and act as a point of contact, ensuring continuity and sustainability.

We are seeking £5000 in funding to continue this project, expand the skatepark, as well as delivering equipment to the team in Makomp and Freetown in 2026
