On Tuesday September 17, 2019 my husband had a severe stroke. He was rushed to the hospital around 2am. On the way to the hospital he had a seizure. Later that afternoon he had brain surgery to avoid further bleeding. We were told to stay at the hospital for two weeks to keep an eye on the bleeding and to make sure he didn’t get any more strokes or seizures.

September 24, the blood caused the vessels in the brain to spaz out. This limited the blood flow and gave him another stroke. This time it was much stronger. They had to rush him down to the operating room and put medicine in his brain to help with the spasms. Since this stroke was a lot stronger he could not talk, eat or move on his own. A couple of days of putting medicine and trying to stop the vasospasms nothing was working or getting better. We had to make a hard decision and put him in hospice care, so he wouldn’t have to suffer anymore. On October 11, my husband passed away.

He was at the hospital for a month, he fought as much as he could. My husband was a strong man, never complained about anything. He was the strongest out of the family. Even when he didn’t feel good he still wouldn’t miss work. He was a hard worker. He played soccer when he was younger all the way until his late fourties, he has always been pretty healthy. When he would get sick it would just be the cough. That is why this incident has taken everyone by surprise.
He did not have health insurance. We are a private family. It’s just me and my two kids. We never ask for anything. We would always figure it out but this time we need all the help we can get. With the medical bills and funeral expenses stacking up, it is too much for us to do on our own.
