Benjamin’s Road to Recovery

Donation protected

As many of you know, Isabella and Ben were in a car crash earlier this spring on Hwy 400, north of Innisfil.

A tire from a southbound passenger vehicle came loose and entered the northbound lanes of the highway, which struck Bella and Ben's Madza on the driver's side. Ben was driving at the time, and was instantly made unconcious from the impact. He suffered a diffusional axel injury (brain injury) which rendered him unconscious for over a month. Along with this, Ben suffered a broken jaw, a broken wrist, laserations to his head, face, and hands (stitches were needed), and he needed a tracheotomy and a g tube for feeding.

It has been a long journey already for Ben. He was instantly air lifted to Sunnybrook after the crash, where began his road to recovery. He has since been transferred to North York General Hospital where he is undergoing rehab and being watched by the trusted team of doctors and nurses there.

We are now entering into the second month of his recovery. With ongoing surgeries, round-the-clock care, and now his rehab - Ben is in fact showing improvements in his cognitive functions and in his reactions. That being said, this injury has set him back immensely. Along with this, he has been denied catastrophic insurance and will not have access to the 1 million dollars in medical coverage that we believe he should have access to with this type of occurrence. This is why we are asking you for your help. We are looking for your support to help get Ben back on his feet with the right medical care, and for compensation of his time that has been lost working.
