Help Christine care for her Dad in Germany
Donation protected
Dear Friends,
My 84-year-old father needs me. He survived surgery for his pancreatic cancer but is not recovering as hoped.
In June, I traveled back to Germany and cared for him in the hospital for 2 and 1/2 weeks, monitoring his condition, advocating for corrections of medication, fixing drainages, getting him up and making sure he was eating. I needed to communicate to his physicians because Dad was in denial and told his surgeons that he was just fine.
When the doctors determined he was stable, he was transferred to a rehab hospital and I returned home.
Dad was released from the rehab hospital after only 3 weeks, and has been at home for 2 weeks. Even though family and friends bring food and encourage him to eat, he continues to lose weight and strength. He refuses to have any professional outside help. My siblings are unable or unwilling to help.
Dad's first day at home, since his surgery he has lost over 60 lbs.
I feel compelled to return to Germany and care for him.
While I know I will not be able to stay in Germany indefinitely, I plan to advocate for him and attempt to improve his health and wellbeing.
However, should he not recover, he deserves a supported and dignified end of life journey that I would arrange for him.
Being self-employed is challenging, and I do not have the financial reserves necessary for a second trip. Besides the cost of the ticket ($2,100 to 2,500 round trip from San Luis Obispo to Munich, depending on the dates of travel), I will lose income while paying the overhead for the studio, as well as the cost of my rent and utilities at home.
I would be very grateful and appreciative of any support you may be able to give.
If you are not comfortable using this site, donations will be thankfully accepted at the studio, Gyrotonic San Luis Obispo, 3591 Sacramento Drive Suite 125 San Luis Obispo, CA 93401.

Some of you have met my Dad when I brought him out here for his 79th birthday.
