Help for Hoss

Donation protected
This is Hoss- he is a 9+ year old Lemon Pointer that was dumped at a southern Illinois Shelter the week of June 15th. He is partially blind and has some storm anxiety. We have lined up a foster home for him but being a senior he will need some special blood work and extra care. Because tick borne disease is a huge problem in our birddog population, we can assume he more than likely has Lyme disease and Rocky Mountain spotted fever and both can cause inflammation of the eyes and blindness- besides anxiety.

Initial blood work which includes a complete blood count and chemistry, tick panel and heartworm test, exam, fecal and vaccinations will run close to $300 with our discount.  He will need x-rays to look for anything suspicious with his spleen and liver just in case and that could cost another $150-$200. Additional supplies - heartguard, flea and tick protection, dewormer, antibiotics , collar with ID can add another $150.  As we don't know his heartworm status, we are prepared to care for that if he is positive.

We hope to give him a loving home for his golden years and we appreciate any support you can offer for his care.

Here is a recent picture of him after he got a shampoo and some quality running time in my yard.

His teeth are pretty bad.
