Nearly 3 years ago, I lost the most amazing woman to Cancer. My mother was only 55 years old on January 24, 2016 when she told us that she "Might" have cancer. Six Weeks later, on March 4, she was gone.
That year after going though some tough times, I challenged myself to run the Bluenose 5k in her honour. It was the first organized run I've been in, and embarrassingly, the furthest I think I've ever run. But this fat, out-of-shape guy crossed the finish line, smiling and thinking of Mom.
This year, I want to do more. I want to push my boundaries and at the same time help others. To do this requires something a little more difficult, so I'm training for the 2019 Bluenose Full Marathon! Leading up to June 9, I will be raising money for two charities that have become very important to me. The Canadian Cancer Society - Nova Scotia Division and The Mental Health Foundation of Nova Scotia. Every cent that I am able to fundraise will be split evenly between these two important local charities, and throughout my training I will highlight some of what these two organizations do and why I chose them.
Please help me in reaching my goal of $1000 in donations. Every donation will motivate me to train harder, and in return you get to witness a fat guy run for way longer than he's ever run before. #marathonformom
