Charleigh's Journey

Hi everyone, On August 7, 2023, Dani & Dan welcomed their beautiful Babygirl Charleigh into the world, however the birth was anything short of traumatic. Charleigh suffered from nuchal cord which caused distress immediately in the delivery process. She ended up being delivered through vacuum extraction. Charleigh was born not breathing because she got stuck due to shoulder dystocia. Also, during this her cord was cut prematurely before she was out. Charleigh took her first breath on a breathing tube at 2 minutes and 30 seconds of life.

Due to all the trauma this sweet girl is now dealing with an array of medical conditions. She suffered brachial plexus injuries causing an Erbs Palsy to her left arm. All her muscles are extremely tight leading to her being restricted in movement. She is receiving Occupational Therapy & Physical Therapy every week, on top of seeing the Chiropractor as well. They are working with Upstate GI to get her tummy problems under control. With special formula she's coming along, but that comes with high costs. Charleigh is also being seen by Upstate Ophthalmology & Neurology because unfortunately she is having problems seeing, leading to more questions by Dani & Dan. She's also currently working with Upstate Pediatric Orthopedics, and eventually will be referred to CHOP or Bostons Childrens for specialized care. Charleigh has a long road ahead of her, and due to her constant appointments & therapies it's made it impossible for Dani to return to work. Medical bills and expenses have started to pile up. As all parents know bringing home a baby is hard work, but a baby with special needs and care sets a whole new level of commitment. All while caring for Charleigh, Dani & Dan still have their boys to raise as well & are doing their best to juggle everything.
