My name is Avery and I live in Great Falls, Virginia. The Chesapeake Bay is so close to my home, but I can’t safely access it. After pressure washing houses for a few months during the summer, I was able to save up enough money to buy my boat, however I am still one final hurdle away from being able to sail safely, which is an electric outboard and battery. This fundraiser’s goal is to finish the final step to boat safely in the Chesapeake, which is to raise enough money to be able to purchase the outboard and battery as well as other safety gear before June.

The first time I went out into water was when I was 11 and windsurfing. I was in the middle of nowhere, completely alone on the water. I was gliding on the surface of the water, and it was exciting and peaceful at the same time. That was the first time I felt free on the water and it caused me to fall in love with the water.

When I moved to Virginia, I had already stopped Windsurfing for a while because I was interested in other things. That was until one day in class we were talking about the Chesapeake bay. I saw a vast expanse of water, and it is in a place so close to home. I realized that I had to go out there, so I started pressure washing people’s houses and saved up just enough money to afford the Aqua Marina Aircat 335. The boat was originally $840, however I found an amazing deal and got it brand new for $551.

The only issue is that even with the boat I am unable to go out to the Chesapeake bay. Rowing out there alone with the oars the boat comes with is not safe at all for the bay’s condition and I needed something with power, which is why I chose the Newport NT300.

The reason why I chose an electric outboard like Newport NT 300 is because it is one of the cheapest electric outboards of that level of performance in the market, it is quiet and a lot cheaper in the long run. Even so, it is very expensive and is the final hurdle before I can sail safely on the Chesapeake Bay. This is why I am seeking your help to achieve my goal.

How I will spend the money:
