Help my mom get home

Update: We used the donations so far to get her a round trip to spain in order to get her spanish passport settled. She feels REALLY excited about this. This is far from the end goal but it's a first step.

We plan to get her settled there first and then I will follow after to take care of her.

She has bladder cancer.

She was born in Spain and all of her family still live over there. She has been unable to go back to Spain because of life's obstacles such as marriage, costs, keeping a job, and raising a child. It has been her dream to go back since she was 18 so that she can spend the rest of her days with them and among people who, as she puts it, make her "feel like she's loved."

Although she came here as a young person and appreciates America, having now spent most of her life here, she still yearns to be back in her motherland with her family because there is no family here for her in the US aside from me, her son, who is trying to help her move back.

Not sure how long she has left, she has been urgently wanting to go back because she has been feeling isolated in America for a very long time.

We're doing this fundraiser out of desperation because we're struggling and don't have a lot of contacts, and don't know who to ask. We have no one to turn to at all and don't know what else to do.

I am trying to support her financially because she cannot work and I have only my fanbase to turn to to ask for help and promo this campaign. I don't have an incredible Twitter following because I'm just an artist, and we all know how friendly Twitter is to us.

I had been telling my fanbase early on about it and you may recall some announcements on my Discord, but after bad news waffling constantly, I stopped updating you because it became exhausting, upsetting and I didn't want to bring down my fanbase who were there just to enjoy my art.

About her cancer

My mother was diagnosed with bladder cancer a year ago.

She has been having ongoing treatments since, as bladder cancer is notorious for re-occurring, so it has been an emotional rollercoaster and severe financial hardship for us both.

Her treatments include BCG injections into the bladder, along with ongoing cystocopies, and countless medications, MRIs, CT scans, and diagnostics.

Although she does have health insurance, she is still responsible for an array of expensive co-pays, deductibles, and medications because of the cancer treatments.

This has been a burden on her mental health too, as she has not been able to work at all. She is an artist, but has been isolated and has spent most of her time in medical facilities for constant check-ups, procedures, and testing, leaving her little to no time for work or herself.

We never intended to campaign this and so have never taken photos of her during any of her treatments except the picture above, which was just after her very first surgery.

Why we need help.

As you can imagine, as her son I have been distraught and feeling like a failure for not being able to swoop in and rescue the incredible mother who supported me when I decided to medically transition my sex, put me through homeschooling when I couldn't fit in at public schools and helped me join the US military. We couldn't afford art school and she always felt guilty about that.

Without schooling, I have been a freelance illustrator since 2014. With the recent changes to social media, I've been struggling hard to put out enough work to grow my business so I can support her through this. And Covid resulted in the loss and cancellation of all of my conventions where I make a bulk of my income which I have been struggling to make up for since.

Thus this last, desperate attempt to make a difference in her life and make her biggest dream come true.

She has mentioned Spain many times. Please help me fulfill this promise I made to her.

The amount would cover her current medical debt, freight and some plane tickets to Spain to get her there.
