The Bluewater Youth Tug-of-War Team is heading into its fifth season, powered by the strength, dedication, and passion of nearly 30 athletes aged 10 to 18. Training twice a week just outside Dashwood under the guidance of coaches Ted and Rob Hoffman, these young competitors have built not only their physical strength, but teamwork, discipline, and resilience.
From local events like Dashwood Friedsburg Days and the Embro Highland Games to international competitions in the United States, this team continues to represent their community with pride.
Last summer, they travelled to the Netherlands to compete at GENSB—the world’s premier international youth tug-of-war competition, where the best young teams from across the globe come together. Facing 35 top teams, they earned an impressive 12th-place finish. The experience ignited a new level of determination and drive within the team.
Now, they’re ready to take the next step.
This year, they’re heading to Switzerland to compete again on the international stage, motivated to come back stronger.
But they need your support to get there.
Your donation will help cover travel, accommodations, and competition costs, giving these hardworking athletes the chance to pursue their goals and represent Canada once again.
Every contribution helps pull them closer to the world stage. No amount is too small, and every bit of support means the world to these young competitors.
If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing our story, and cheering us on as we pull for Bluewater, for Canada, and for the love of the sport!
Thank you for your support!
