Save The Blue Room Theatre!

The Blue Room Theatre is an independent theatre group dedicated to challenging artists and audiences with plays of depth and vibrancy in an intimate environment.

For 23 years we have remained a hub of year-round entertainment and activity for downtown Chico. From our Main Stage Productions and  our Young Company to our late night experimental theater, Pay-What-You-Can Thursdays, outside productions including visiting shows, comedy acts, live music and even school partnerships, we continue striving to add to the vibrant culture of our community. 

As many of you know, the City of Chico cut funding for the Arts, intensifying the financial struggle for organizations like ours.  This has left us to make up a more than $18k per year deficit. 

Most independent theaters rely on approximately 50% revenue from ticket sales and the other 50% from donations, sponsorships and grants. We are a 501 (c)(3) nonprofit organization. Every donation made through Go Fund me, or directly on our site, is tax deductible. 

We have been doing a lot to try and make up the void the city has left. Beer tastings, Haunted Houses, Storytelling fundraisers, Program Ad Sales, pursuing grants, and pounding the streets. But despite all that, things are dire right now and ... WE NEED YOUR HELP!

Production costs are holding us back at the moment. Our biggest challenge is to secure rights for the upcoming year so that we can keep the doors open ... But that's not all. We need wood, paint, fabric, materials, props and if we reach our goal of $25k ... we could redo our ancient system of Lights and Sound.
