Bluegrove Baptist Building Fund-Uganda Orphanage
Tax deductible

Over a decade ago on a mission trip to Uganda, a group of rural Texans were providentially introduced to a precious group of children being cared for by Mama Mary. These little ones had been discovered wandering the streets of Kampala after their parents had died, and Mama Mary had been sent to rescue them. She took them to her single room garage and prayed, asking God to be the Father to the Fatherless. Through Mama Mary and others who came alongside her, Share the Love Orphanage had begun. After meeting this beautiful family knit together by the Lord, the team from Texas was forever affected. Upon returning to Texas, God used this first mission team to spread the message of how to be the hands and feet of Christ, how to truly live out James 1:27….Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.
Several trips have been made back to Kampala and dozens have witnessed for themselves the indescribable joy that these children have which must surely come from knowing Christ. Others (after hearing the childrens’ stories) and in spite of never even meeting them in person, have been prompted by God to pray and give financially to help their little brothers and sisters in Christ. For years God has met the needs of these kids through His people, allowing them access to food, clothing, medicine, housing, and even school in many circumstances. This has helped to sustain them for the past ten years. Recently, we have been very concerned with their housing situation. They have been leasing a house with no running water, open toilets, and very little electricity. After experiencing flooding a few months ago, numerous break-ins, and finally culminating in being evicted January 31st, 2020, their situation has become extremely dire. They searched and thought they found two places to live, but both owners, at the last moment, refused to let them stay. We have prayed for a solution and believe that God can and will use His people to meet this need. It is our desire that these children should have a stable home--somewhere that they can call their own and not worry if they’re going to have a roof over their head.
Three years ago, funds were raised to purchase 7 acres of land for the orphanage about an hour away from the dangers of Kampala. For the past two years the older boys have been successfully growing crops to sell in order to provide for their brothers. It would be a tremendous blessing to one day build a home on this property--a dormitory for the girls, a dormitory for the boys, a kitchen, and bathroom. We believe that “one-day” is now, thus the Go-Fund-Me. An architecture firm from Kampala has already drawn up plans and estimated the cost to be around $70,000 to build these structures. After discussing the building plans with one of the orphanage’s long time supporters, we learned that he has knowledge of a reliable local construction company that could be used. If additional funds are raised, other improvements could also be made, beginning with a protective wall so the children can play in safety, a van to transport the children, and animals to raise and potentially sell. Currently, on the acreage there is a good water well, a large tool shed, fruit trees, bees, and crops of maize, cassava, and sweet potatoes. (One of the older boys, Viator, has taken upon himself to learn bee-keeping.) Training for these kids in sustainable farming techniques and biblical business practices is also a possibility through another ministry operated by a local Texas family who are now missionaries in Uganda. Moreover, through continued sponsorship, the children would be able to attend the private schools that are near the farm (Free public schools do not exist in Uganda). A church, within walking distance, would also be available to the kids.
We would like to ask that you prayerfully consider the part God would have you play in this endeavor? Thank you so much!
