Blue Boy (Proof of Concept)
Donation protected
Greetings again from the darkness!
I hope everyone is well. I'm excited to share that our team has been hard at work behind the scenes. Last week we shot the final part of our proof of concept at the Byaduk Caves (located in Mt. Napier State Park).
Here’s a little look at what we captured…
I’m now in the edit again, aiming to have a final cut by mid-to-late March—which means we can actually start getting eyes on this thing and start pushing for further funding.
There are of course still expenses flying at me from all directions—so, if you like what you see cooking in this space and would like to support, please consider a donation big or small.
Til’ next time! x

Hey, what up people! We're one step closer to completing our proof of concept and we couldn't have done it without your help. For those of you who have donated and invested in this project, we can't thank you enough!
The shoot wrapped a few weeks ago—here's a little look behind the scenes...
And a few stills...
We're super excited about what we have so far, however, in order to complete Block A, we're still aiming to reach our $5k goal. In regards to expenses, we still have two more shoot days at the Byaduk Caves, as well as post-production costs.
If anyone is interested in seeing this project come to fruition, please consider donating and/or sharing!

Hello, I’m Jordie—a 25-year-old filmmaker based in Melbourne, Australia. In a couple of weeks, myself, along with a crew of independent filmmakers are kicking off a feature film titled 'Blue Boy'.
So what's it about?
Blue Boy is a genre-defying film, traversing through Coming-of-Age, Fantasy, Thriller, Surrealism, Animation, Metafiction, Comedy, and more.
The story follows three close friends in their mid-20s, Magnus, Pat and Chunk, who go mushroom picking in the countryside and stumble across a mysterious, blue mushroom patch. When Magnus eats one on a dare, things start to take a surreal and mind-bending turn.
Here's a quick pre-vis...
So why does this movie need to be made?
Blue Boy presents ideas I don’t often see explored in cinema—be it philosophical, spiritual, psychological, theological, metaphysical… pretty much any word you can think of ending in ‘cal’ and it's in there somewhere!
I think a film like this is needed now more than ever. People are stuck, confused, uncertain, disconnected—a bigger-picture perspective is imperative. Blue Boy attempts to point to a simple, obvious, and immediate freedom—one that dwells beyond our day-to-day problems.
And this proof of concept thing… what’s that all about?
See—we don’t have the funds just yet to make the entire project. Our plan is to shoot the first act of the film, and after that, present it to production companies and funding bodies to acquire further funding.
Where will my money actually go?
It will cover expenses such as equipment hire, location permits, cast and crew costs, VFX, accommodation, and more.
Tell me about the talent in Blue Boy...
Sure. In the middle is our leading man Robert D’Ottavi playing the role of Magnus. On the left is Lucy Orr, who will be playing Chunk. And on the right is Sorab Kaikobad, who's playing Pat.
Crew?
Ryley Warrener (pictured middle) and Ellis Curmi (left) are co-producing. And Daniel Tan (on the right) is our cinematographer, shooting on the Arri D-21 paired with Master Prime lenses.
(On account of GoFundMe's 'Terms of Service', no raffles, sweepstakes, giveaways, or returns on investment are offered in exchange for any donations made to our campaign).
