Hello, everyone. My name is Maria Sanchez, and I’m an artist, entrepreneur, and creative professional.
I’m launching this GoFundMe campaign to live the dream – to launch a company that I started called Blue Ventana – for myself, for my family, and for my community.
A wise person once told me that when you ask for help it’s a sacred ceremony. When those who show up to assist you – not only do they bless you, but – they heal a part of you that you didn’t know needed healing. It’s been a lesson that has taken me a lifetime to learn, but I’m grateful for it.
As many of you know, in March I had to close my gallery and coffee shop due to family circumstances.
Finding my new way these past few months has led me to dig deep, and reconnect with my love for plants, my love for art, and my love for the community that I miss so much.
My dream is to reinvent myself and my business, staying truer to my core values of serving community through my love for art, and creating a ‘third place’ experience where people can connect. A place where I can bless the community which has given me so much.
Blue Ventana is straight out of my dreams, inspired by the blue windows of Santorini in Greece where I’ve never physically been. The beautiful gardens there. How beautiful it is to stand in one of those windows and take in the fresh sea air. This blue ventana, or window, is a place I visit in my dreams. A place so real I could pack the experience into a little box and share it with the world. This little box is my new shop, Blue Ventana, a modest little white box with bright blue window panes, where everyone can come join me to explore a world of exotic plants, art, books, enjoy tea or Tertulia Coffee pour-overs, and build community.
Blue Ventana is a place where I would continue to provide space for community events. Cultural events. Healing circles, which are so needed now with everything that is going on in our world. And, continue to promote the work of women artists, Latina artists, artists of color, and artists who are under-represented.
This GoFundMe campaign represents more than fulfilling a dream to me, but rather fulfilling the collective dream of the community. A dream where the fluffy seeds of the dandelion blow to distant places we never imagined we’d bless. I hope you’ll join me on this journey to find the perfect spot for this dream and to make it a reality.
