Blue Rider needs your help to care for our herd!

At Blue Rider Stables, Inc., we've been in operation for 34 years in South Egremont, helping humans help horses help humans. We've done so for all that time using creative approaches to fundraising to supplement the fees we charge for lessons and other equine-centered programming. Your donations, funds received via grants, sale of merchandise, and sale of tickets to annual events have provided a patchwork of revenue allowing us to care for our wonderful herd of 16 equines, pay our staff and maintain our property. We remain deeply appreciative of all our community has provided.

Though grit, faith and a lot of hard work have kept us afloat over the years, we are in the heartbreaking situation of struggling to stretch our budget to cover costs. Now, Spring is upon us and the herd is due for a full range of veterinary services These include Spring shots, fecal exam, wellness exam, dental exams/treatments, chiropractic treatments, and essential medications. Our herd serves us so well, helping us deliver more than 6,000 lessons every year. They bring their healing, dedicated, full selves to our work every day. We are deeply committed to caring for them as well as possible - keeping them safe, comfortable and happy.

Costs for Spring veterinary services along with other care will reach up to $20,000 in the coming month or two. Though we're working hard on fundraising events, we have an urgent need for funds now to allow us to proactively provide the services our herd needs and deserves. We know your donation dollars are needed in so very many places in the community, but we are hopeful that even a little bit from the many members of our community will allow us to reach this goal.
