We would like to first and foremost thank the community of Ludlow and beyond for the unwavering support we have felt this last week. There are an endless amount of people who have lifted our spirits through well wishes, food, hugs, and help, and we could never fully express how grateful we are to you all.
Hi! We are Bex and Craig, the owners of Blue Duck Deli, a gourmet deli we have dreamed of opening in Ludlow, Vermont. A year into our renovations and a month shy of our desired opening date, our labor of love, Blue Duck Deli sustained some serious damage during the Ludlow Flood of 2023. The attached garage, which housed the countless tools and supplies we used to build our dream, suffered a serious blow, and will need to be demolished. The river swept away the majority of the contents, and the structure shifted off the foundation. Due to the intricacies of how it is attached, the damage has compromised the integrity of the rest of the building, which doubles as our home and business. The basement had a river rushing through it for the majority of the day, with water filling up to the to the subfloor of our first level and leaving behind feet of mud, destroying the vital equipment we had there and compromising all of our new flooring we had installed. We have poured our hearts and life’s savings (plus some) into this establishment, and have every intention of carrying on and bringing our dream deli to life, but we need some help getting us there. Our intention with funds raised is to use them towards ensuring we can become operable, as the road ahead is longer than we had hoped, but not impossible. We have significant repairs to address, equipment to replace and the costs are extensive yet uncertain at the moment, but we would love nothing more than to finally start serving up sandwiches! Any funds remaining will be utilized for those in need in this amazing community.
