Portland is home to one of the premier music venues in the metro area and attracts not only the best in local and touring talent, but a large audience that appreciates the cozy family atmosphere they get when they walk through the door and a menu that never disappoints.
The Blue Diamond and live music lovers everywhere almost lost this gem in the height of the COVID pandemic when other restaurants and bars closed. If you know the Blue Diamond, then you are aware of the tireless efforts that musician owner Sonny Hess and her partner Jamie Pemberton-Hess has given to keep music alive and available during these hard times. Sometimes to the point of going without so that their staff could keep a roof over their own heads. The owners weren’t the only ones stepping up. Patrons and even musicians without gigs stepped up to order take-out food and help with delivery to keep the doors open.
If you don’t know the Blue Diamond, then you know of a favorite local bar or restaurant near you that has closed due to hardship. You can appreciate the passion and determination that Sonny and Jamie had to give to get the Diamond to the other side…on solid ground.
Recently somebody has come and disturbed that ground and most of all - disrespected all the hard work put in by the owners, the staff, the musicians and the whole community. It has left not only Sonny and Jamie feeling violated, but all of us angered.

In addition, Sonny and Jamie have made adjustments and put security measures in place to deter a repeat occurrence in the future, but that is the future and this is now.
