Help us challenge unlawful logging in Tasmania
Blue Derby Wild is a bold volunteer-run community group campaigning to protect Tasmania's native forests from logging, we need to raise $50,000.00 to challenge Tasmania's corrupt native forest logging system in the Full Court of appeal.
We are taking landmark legal action to challenge the system of laws and regulations in how our native forests are logged. Rules that allow state base logging agency Sustainable Timber Tasmania (STT) to regulate itself by delegating the powers of the independent regulator, The Forest Practices Authority. This doubling-up of powers allows STT staff to create and approve their logging plans, log the forests and then police their logging and any breaches they commit. Essentially putting the fox in charge of the hen house, and it's been this way for decades!
Blue Derby Wild started legal action on this case in April 2022, and we're stepping things up by taking this case to the Full Court on appeal. Bringing transparency and accountability to how our publicly owned, biodiverse and carbon-dense forests are managed to stop destructive native forest logging. We need your help to fund this mammoth effort to shine a light on Tasmania's non-transparent and damaging native forest logging sector that goes back to 1997.
Our forests are worth more standing and worth standing up for.
