Blue DeBord is one of the most hard-working, God-fearing men you could ever hope to meet.  He loves his family fiercely.  And if you are blessed enough to call him friend, you know you have someone to count on in tough times.  He always has a sweet smile and a firm handshake for everyone he meets.

Blue loves his family dearly.  His wife Heather, is his inspiration to be a better man and provider, and he adores his two girls, Alexis and Lukaycee .  He would move Heaven and earth for his family.  He was a coach at Bowie Middle School in Amarillo for years until he decided to follow his dream of being a contractor and horse trainer.  For anyone who has started his/her own business, you know that it requires a great deal of hard work, involving long hours and years of sacrifice.  Blue managed to get two businesses up and running. He started his day at 4:30 a.m. and 14-16 hours days were not unusual for him.

On Monday, August 25, 2019, Blue had a tractor rollover on top of him on their home place.  He was able to pull himself free of the tractor and use his cell phone to call for help.  After being taken to NWTH in Amarillo, his wife was told that he was bleeding internally from lacerations to his spleen and liver, had lost a kidney, had multiple broken ribs, multiple fractures to his spine and a broken pelvis.  He was flown by helicopter to University Medical Center in Lubbock for surgery on his pelvis and treatment for his other internal injuries.   On August 27, he underwent surgery on his pelvis and spent six days in Trauma ICU before being moved to the Intermediate Care ICU on August 31.

His family and friends prayed hard for him….for healing both emotionally and physically.  On Friday, September 6, he was released from UMC in Lubbock to return to Amarillo for physical therapy.  He is unable to put weight on his right hip for at least three months and will be required to use a walker.

He and his family have been overwhelmed by offers of help in all forms.  There are people all over the world praying for his complete recovery.  His healing thus far has been miraculous, and we are so thankful for our prayer warriors.  He is living proof that prayer works, and we are so grateful.

As you can probably imagine, Blue’s medical expenses are great.  While they had prepared for a medical emergency, this has far exceeded what they had ever imagined.   Many people have asked how they can help, and this is an area of need.  Please join us in praying for continued healing as the recovery process begins.  While the doctors are expecting a full recovery, please pray that Blue can accept his limitations during this recovery time of three to four-month.  For those of you who know him, he doesn’t like sitting still!  Please pray for Heather who is taking time off from her teaching position at Claude ISD, to care for him.

Again, the family is so grateful for each person who has reached out to this precious family.  Blessings have been abundant, and we are so very thankful for every one of you!
