Welcome!
Thank you for visiting the crowdfunding page for Bloomin’ Shame! We are honoured and blessed to have you show interest in our project.
Who We Are
The central crew working on Bloomin’ Shame are (including myself) five film students in their final trimester of their Bachelor of Screen Production course. It has been a hectic two years, writing scripts, presenting pitches and learning all kinds of practical skills we will need to use in the industry. It’s surreal to think we have reached the end and will soon be moving on to the next chapter in our lives. This is our final film together before we graduate, and we would love to cap off the course with smiles on our faces and heads held high, confident in the experience we have gained to face the challenges of the real world that await us.
The Film
Bloomin’ Shame is a Christmas time short comedy-drama set in a heightened reality which follows a cheery criminal investigator named Amy who is tasked with interrogating a middle-aged repeat offender to uncover his involvement in the recent robbery of a jewellery store.
What makes Bloomin’ Shame stand out from other police procedurals is its expressionist visuals, an animated sequence and most significantly, its subversion of the typical film interrogation. Rather than maintaining a serious tone made up of demands, threats and even violence, Amy’s interrogation methods are characterised by light-heartedness and her persistent offbeat kindness. Through the film, we delve into the mind of Amy and the man she interrogates, whose chequered past comes to light in unexpected ways.
The Message
Bloomin’ Shame is a heartfelt and humorous story with its fair share of absurdity and solemnity. At its core, Bloomin’ Shame is about the brokenness inherent to humanity and that this brokenness does not reduce one's value as a human being or need to be loved and cared for.
Why We Need Your Support
Bloomin’ Shame is one of the more ambitious projects our team has collaborated on. Like all things filmmaking, achieving our goals comes at a cost. We need your help to make this film the best it can be.
Given the performance-heavy nature of Bloomin’ Shame, we have been seeking out the best talent possible for each role. We would like to pay them for their essential contribution to the film. Animation is another area where our scope is lacking. Underpaying animators is rampant in the industry, and we would like to do the right thing and pay our talented animator Kiralee ‘Krillaree’ Smith for the wonderful work she does. You can see some of her previous work here The final area which needs addressing is the production design. Production design includes all the props, costumes and set design (including its construction!). I am really excited to see the interrogation room fitted with a full-fledged two-way mirror.
How Your Donations Will Be Used

Any excess funds will be used for applications to film festivals.
