"All for one and one for all; we leave no one behind."
.
Hello everyone. I am Dr. Meskerem Abebaw Kebede, a general practitioner working at Debre Markos University. My husband, Dr. Nigus Shegaw Awulew is also a general practitioner working at Adet primary hospital which is about 43 kms away from Bahir Dar.
.
We are both graduates of Tikur Anbessa, part of Hakim 2018. Nigus and were in relationship for the past few years and we got married a couple of months back.
.
My husband Dr. Nigus Shegaw, my everything as I prefer to call him, has been diagnosed with acute myeloid leukaemia (AML) 3 days back after he presented with the respective signs and symptoms for the past week.
.
He has currently been admitted to Tikur Anbessa Specialized Hospital, hematology ward and has started cytoreduction therapy and is on antibiotics.
.
I have communicated with the hematologist in charge and hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) transplant abroad has been recommended.
.
Unfortunately, we can't afford treatment abroad and the current situation (COVID-19) is making things even worse. I am in desperate need of help from all of you.
.
Hence, I kindly request all to strerch your hands at this critical juncture to help save the life of Dr. Nigus Shegaw from this deadly acute disorder.
.
Time is one of the decisive factor for such a disorder as the prognosis significantly depends on how fast the patient obtains the definitive management abroad.
.
I don't have the detailed information as to how to get a hospital which can accept him at this critical time and how to get a passport as soon as possible.
.
He is the love of my life. He is my everything. I lost my father when I was 13 owing to lack of medical treatment and if HSC transplant is not done urgently, I am going to lose my everything; Ethiopia is going to lose a doctor who can do a lot. So please help us.
