Support Bliss’s Recovery

Donation protected
Hi everyone, My friend, Hayley, and her horse Bliss endured a freak accident over the weekend in San Diego and could use your help. I am hoping the horse community, and anyone who can understand an animal owners pain will contribute whatever they can. Hayley has had Bliss since the day she was born, and would do anything for this horse. She is still paying off vet bills from last year, and is in over her head with this one. We are encouraging her to set aside her pride and open up her heart for help. She and Bliss do endurance riding and are continuously blazing the trail together training for an upcoming 50 or 100 miler. She had a date set for a 50 mile ride on 11/15, and wanted to get a 20 mile conditioning ride in this weekend. Typically these two train alone, but were encouraged to join two other seasoned endurance riders on a conditioning ride on a new terrain. She tagged along on a “crest to coast” trail in San Diego. Unfortunately, when the horses made it to the coast, Bliss panicked while following the other horses in the water. Hayley tumbled underneath her. Instead of turning around to shore, Bliss started swimming into the ocean in a panic. Hayley tried to follow to get Bliss, but got stuck out in the water due to strong currents and was later saved herself from what could have been a fatal situation by a kind Samaritan. Bliss eventually turned around and made it to back to shore, but instead of stopping with the other horses, blew past them and ran up onto highway 101. Still panicking from being trapped in the ocean, Bliss galloped into oncoming traffic for a full 6 miles. Tragically, Bliss collided with a vehicle, ripping open her chest cavity in 2 places. Thanks to the local sheriffs department, fire department, humane society, and good samaritans; everyone was able to get the blood loss  under control and get her transported to a local vet hospital where her condition is now stable, but has a very long road ahead of her. Bliss will be under constant vet care, followed by a rehab facility. We are so thankful she is alive, and has the chance to be reunited at home with her best friend Hayley. Please help us raise the funds to help give Bliss the best chance at recovery so she and Hayley can hit the trails again and have a happy ending! Any donations help and if you cannot donate, please share her story! My name is Meghann, I’m friend of Hayley’s from her previous stable in San Diego. I am in constant contact with Hayley getting updates on Bliss’s status, and am running this page because she is focusing on Bliss’s care right now. The funds will be withdrawn to Hayley so she can pay the Vet hospital (San Luis Rey Equine Hospital), and have funds for her future rehab care at a separate facility.
