Support the Georgiades Family: Chris’s Battle with Stage 4 Esophageal Cancer - Chris has passed away at home with family around. We will hold a family and friends celebration of his life at the end of September, details to follow. We are so grateful to everyone for all your support ❤️ and your donations will be used to help with outstanding medical bills, utility bills, and will help us stay in our home while we start to navigate our life without him.
His story- our story- is below.
Last fall, Chris, who drives a city bus, experienced severe back pain. Despite his usual tolerance for discomfort, the pain became unbearable, prompting an ER visit. What began as a routine check quickly escalated into a nightmare. After a series of tests, doctors delivered the devastating news: Chris had stage 4 esophageal cancer, which had already spread to his liver and spine. The pain he felt was due to his vertebrae fracturing because of the cancer.
Chris, who has always worked tirelessly to provide for his family, was suddenly unable to return to work. The diagnosis came as a shock—esophageal cancer often remains undetected until it reaches an advanced stage.
Since then, Chris has undergone multiple surgeries, including spinal reconstruction, and endured grueling treatments like chemotherapy and radiation. Despite his courage and determination, he faced severe complications, including loss of mobility and weight loss, leading to the need for a GI tube and extensive rehabilitation.
Recently, Chris lost feeling in his legs and was hospitalized in excruciating pain. He is now receiving hospice care at home, surrounded by his loving family.
The Georgiades family has been through unimaginable challenges, and they need our support. Any contribution to this fund will help ease their financial burden and provide comfort during this incredibly difficult time. Your generosity and kindness are deeply appreciated.
Thank you for your support during this horrific time.
