Blind Person Needs New Work Computer

Donation protected
Hello Everyone,
My name is Darragh Ryan and I am raising money for a new computer that will best serve my needs. I am an Access Technology instructor for blind and low vision people who need training in learning how to use Apple computers and devices. I am also a small content creator on YouTube where I discuss many aspects of accessibility, advocacy, and entertainment.

I produce and edit all my content for the best viewer experience for both sighted and non-sighted viewers and I strive to provide the best quality available to me.

I currently use an iMac 27” from 2013 which is now out of date since the release of the new operating system which limits my ability to keep up with new technologies that I would use for both my Accessible Technology training and my YouTube channel as I use Final Cut Pro and other large applications.

I have already upgraded my iMac as much as I possibly can with new memory expansion and external drives.

My hopes are to raise as much money as possible to help with the price tag of a new iMac and hopefully before my workload of new clients gets to heavy and my computer fails.

I use my iMac for everything that I do and if I were to lose this computer, I would be unable to work as an instructor which I just started working as in August of this year.

I am fortunate to get a remote training job which is another taxing process on my computer and being such an old computer, my operating system will no longer be available for updates and support.

Any dollar amount and or sharing this Go Fund Me will be very helpful and appreciative.

I have tried alternative methods including state funded agencies that are suppose to provide equipment for clients but since I am technically employed as a sub-contractor, they are unable to assist me with this request.

My goal for a computer is an Apple iMac 27” with 64Gb RAM, 2Tb SSD, I9 3.x Ghz processor, mid-range graphics card, and keyboard.

Apple computers unfortunately are quite expensive but being blind myself, all Apple computers include accessibility features like Voice Over for the blind whereas Windows computers we are forced to purchase a screen reading program that costs $900.00 and up for professionals.

The added bonus is that with an Apple computer I can perform what is called boot camp which allows me to run Windows operating systems natively.

I hope you consider helping me with this fund-raising campaign and again, thank you all for your support.
