Blind Muslims want to learn the Quran

My name is Yadira Thabatah and I have been blind since birth.  About 13 years ago, alhamdulilah, I accepted Islam.  Islam has to be one of the most beautiful things that has happened to me.  However, as a blind Muslim, I was shocked to see the lack of attention that Muslims give to the blind community.  

We are treated like we don't exist and at best, a charity.  There is not dignity for us.  We are expected to just sit and not complain.  However, I was not ok with the idea of us continuing to be ignored.  Therefore, we started Islam by Touch.  The idea was simple, create Quran's that are made of braille to help the blind Muslim community understand the beauty of Islam.  

Not surprisingly, our organization is struggling financially because many people don't find this work to be important.  We have sent out English Quran's to so many people across the world.  You would not believe how thankful the blind community is towards this project.  Please do not turn your face and hearts away from us, if we do not raise fund our organization will be closing down.  

We ask Allah SWT to reward everyone that donates to this beautiful organization.  And one last reminder, at any point in time Allah can take away your vision, so be thankful for what you have and support us!  The money will be used to make more Quran's and support the blind community.  

We have currently sent out over 140 copies of the Braille Quran.
