Help Mom See London Before Losing Sight

Hi! My name’s Katie, I’m 13 year’s old and my mom’s name is Heather. That’s us in the photo. She’s really an amazing mom and I’m hoping you can help me to make her dream into a reality…before it’s too late. 

You see, my mom’s loosing her eye sight. She’s a Type 2 diabetic and suffers from a condition called diabetic retinopathy. She often had to choose between her insulin and putting food on the table, so she’s gone without and has paid the price. It’s caused both of her retinas to detach and after several procedures and several thousands of dollars in bills, she’s been left with only 25% of her vision. It’s so bad she’s been forced her to quit her job at Krogers and apply for disability. Eventually, she will lose her sight completely. That means she’ll never get to see me in my cap and gown when I graduate. She’ll never get to see me standing at the alter when I get married. She’ll never get to see the birth of her grandchildren. I know I can’t give her her eyesight back. Nothing can, but maybe I can still do something for her while she has a fraction of her vision remaining.

My mom is obsessed with the royal family. She even started Tiara Tuesday at her old job! Her dream for as long as I can remember has been to visit Buckingham Palace in London, England. She told me they announced the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee will be in June of 2022 and I’d love nothing more than for her to be able to be there. Her vision is too poor for her to travel on her own, but my dad said that he would watch my two brothers so I can go with her. I’m planning on having a garage sale and I’m going to collect bottles & cans to turn in, but I know I’m going to need some help and I don’t have a lot of time.
