Blind Friend Needs Help Urgently

Donation protected
Hi, My name is Aleta, and I am fundraising for my longtime friend Cecelia.
Cecelia was born with glaucoma and was totally blind by age 17. Despite her
blindness, she held a job all her adult life. She is now 72, retired and lives on a
small pension in a condo. Her condo is paid for.
The problem is her HOA fees. Each month for the last 2 years, she gave money
to someone she trusted to go to the condo office to pay her Home Owners
Association (HOA) fees. Sadly they did not pay her fees but kept her money as
their own.
No one! No one from her local HOA board ever gave her a call or knocked on
her door to tell her the fees were not being paid. Nor did the parent company of
the HOA give her a call. The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requires that
accommodation be made for her blindness by either call, direct contact or a
letter in braille, as she had asked the HOA to do. There was never a call. No one
knocked on Cecelia's door, nor did she receive a letter in Braille for 2 years!
She found out about the fees not being paid when she ran into a local HOA
board member, on her birthday, after coming home from a birthday celebration
with friends. This board member told her they would put a lien against her condo for non-payment fees and could seize her condo home.
The person she trusted admitted to the theft of her money; to say the least, she
is devastated!
The non-action of the HOA board and the trusted person theft are being
addressed. Until then, she needs to pay the back fees, or she is in danger of
losing her home, with nowhere to go!
In addition to the HOA fees, Cecelia has been having problems with her health. Surgery to improve her hearing and tests for stomach cancer have been done
recently. Her insurance did not pay for all these expenses leaving her with
copays she cannot deliver on top of paying the back HOA fees. As you can
imagine, after 2 years of non-payment, this a considerable amount of money, in
the thousands of dollars in addition to a thousand dollars of medical co-pays.
All these issues are taking a further toll on her health and peace of mind.

Having worked for 45 years, blind with a low paying wage, Cecelia is now living
on a small pension income. Cecelia budgeted for the monthly HOA fees but not
for having to pay back 2 years of outstanding fees. She finds herself living in fear that if she cannot pay these HOA fees, her condo will be taken from her to pay
these fees.
As Cecelia's longtime friend, if I had the money she needs I would pay her fees but I too am retired and live on a pension.
Cecelia will be eternally grateful to any and all of you who would be willing to
help her pay the outstanding HOA fees and medical copays.
Thank you, in advance, to any and all of you who wish to or are able to help!
Any amount big or small is appreciated!
