Adryan Bryce Castillo-Green
February 6, 2011 ~ December 29, 2014
Three-year-old Adryan suffered from seizures since birth. His brain malformation caused him to be developmentally and cognitively delayed and he was confined to a wheelchair. But these limitations didn’t impair his love for life and for his family.
Adryan was suffering through a seizure every minute until undergoing a December 2012 brain surgery. The surgery, combined with medications, made a drastic improvement with the seizing. However, when he did have an episode, his airway would collapse. Doctor’s suggested a tracheotomy to help with Adryan’s breathing during the seizures. His mother, Samantha, was hesitant about this surgery as it would be permanent and potentially expose her son to more complications. She spent almost a year educating herself, discussing all options with doctors and praying for guidance.
On November 3rd, Adryan underwent the tracheotomy and showed no signs of complications. Pregnant with her fourth child, Samantha returned to her Winn Dixie cashier job for a few hours a week.
Monday evening, the unimaginable happened. Adryan coughed out his trach tube, losing his only means of an airway. He was transported to Winter Haven Hospital without a heartbeat. Adryan could not be resuscitated and went to be with Jesus the evening of December 29th. Less than 24 hours later, Samantha went into early labor and gave birth to Alyvia Grace. Both were hospitalized in Orlando while Adryan’s little body waited back at Winter Haven Hospital.
Samantha continues to work a few hours a week in order to keep her job but this small check doesn’t provide enough for her to have a savings account. The 29 year old is the provider for newborn Alyvia, Addy (2), and Adyn (11), and now must find the means to bury her son.
Adryan's Services will be held at
Oak Ridge Funeral Home in Winter Haven.
