Thank you all so much!!
Meet Bethany!
I've known Bethany for about 100 years. We first met in elementary school, our parents were friends, we worked at Wendy’s together... and even though we lost touch for a while after High School, we recently reconnected through mutual friends and our LOVE for all things Rodan & Fields.
She is an AMAZING momma to the most handsome little man, Hudson(2.5 years old).
Bonus-momma to beautiful Miss. Haylie (8 years old).
Loving wife to her hardworking hubby Josh.
Last year Bethany got the news no expecting mom wants to hear, the baby boy she was carrying no longer had a heartbeat. After picking up the pieces of their broken hearts, they started trying for another baby.
Enter, Emerson Grace.
Early in Bethany’s pregnancy she learned that her little girl has a very rare genetic disorder known as triple X syndrome. The first half of her pregnancy, which should be filled with joy and excitement, was plagued with worry and constant doctors appointments to try to get a clear picture of the situation and to be as prepared as possible after birth. During her testing she learned that, in addition to herself, her son and daughter could also have another rare genetic disorder. It’s like the blows just kept coming.
To compound on an already stressful situation, on March 24th Bethany was hospitalized for a few days to monitor the baby. Just one week later, at 25 weeks 5 days, her placenta ruptured and she hemorrhaged. Luckily, Josh hadn’t left for work yet and was able to rush her to the hospital, where she was then rushed via ambulance to Magee. Soon after they arrived at Magee, Bethany’s water broke and she was in active labor, her blood pressure tanked and they were about to rush her off for an emergency C-section when contractions stopped, her BP stabilized, and the baby was stable on the monitors.
While we are all so thankful that Emerson decided to stay put and develop a little longer, Bethany was told she can’t leave the hospital until baby Emerson is born, with good reason.. on April 10th Bethany had her second massive hemorrhage. She was rushed to the OR to prep her for an emergency C-section, but luckily they were able to do damage control, get the bleeding under control and stabilize mom & baby, narrowly avoiding delivery yet again.
Between the time bomb of her placenta previa, possible infections, no fluid, gestational diabetes, and the fact that Emerson has now tried to come more than once. . it’s likely that she’ll be here sooner than later and will be looking at a long NICU stay.
This has already been SO hard on this sweet family. Josh has been holding the fort down at home (in Hermitage, PA) with the kids, trying to get the family to Pittsburgh to visit Bethany as often as possible, and trying to work as much as possible.. Unfortunately, with the instability of mom & baby, & lack of child care centers accepting new kids (thanks COVID) he’s barely been able to work more than a few hours a week. Not to mention Bethany being alone at the hospital, day in and day out (COVID restrictions limit her guests), knowing Josh is at home with the weight of the world on his shoulders.
Once Emerson is here, things won’t be much easier. . recovering from birth, and wanting to be with the baby as much as possible but also wanting to get home to the rest of her family. .
Even with insurance, this family is looking at a mountain of medical bills, fuel costs to get back and forth, (more than likely) hotel stays, child care costs.. . and I’m sure a million other things that I’m not even thinking of.
I know this year has been difficult for everyone, but I know any little bit that you can contribute will mean so much.
