Dear Family, Friends & Neighbors,
THE COTTRELL FAMILY NEEDS OUR HELP!
On Saturday, July 13th, Craig suffered a hemorrhagic stroke. After the ambulance took him to Chandler Regional Hospital ICU, doctors determined he had bleeding on the right side of his brain. At present he is still experiencing severe, continuous headaches and has no feeling or movement on his left side. Nighttime pain has been the most acute and difficult to manage. Until blood reabsorbs into his body, we just don’t know what his short and long-term prognoses and recovery time-frame will be. After stabilization he will need to go into an acute rehab center. He is able to verbalize and is aware of his surroundings to some extent, which is very encouraging.
Andrea is doing her best to stay calm and focused. There are many decisions to make about how to navigate what is ahead for Craig, Andrea and the kids. Andrea was spending her days and nights at the hospital but had to return to part-time work this week after Craig’s brother arrived.
The kids are doing “okay” all things considered. Davis leaves for college in a few weeks and Madeline has been holding down the fort--taking care of dogs, horses, and home. They visit Craig each day, but it is hard for them to see their active and personality-filled father like this. They are troopers.
The Cottrell's need your prayers for Craig and the family: prayers for medical progress for Craig, for wisdom for the doctors, and for strength for Andrea, the kids and the rest of the family. The family also needs help with doctor bills, hospital bills, and any other bills that come in while Craig is recovering.
