Blessing Larry Mclachlan & Michelle Boston
Donation protected
Each year we try to help another family in need during Christmas time. This year we are choosing to help one of our own FIT members and her husband to be. Michelle Boston is one of our FABULOUS FIT members from our 9:15 am class.
In September Larry's airway closed due to a bad cough. From this experience he has a brain injury and has been in the hospital since then.
We at FXB Urbandale would like to take donations for Michelle, her fiancé and family so they can be blessed during this holiday season. Michelle and Larry were to be married this month and they have been thru a lot physically, emotionally and financially.
Please read Michelle's story and help us to support and bless Michelle and Larry.
Here is Michelle's story:
"On September 11th, I took Larry to urgent care due to a cough that he had for over a week. While in the patient room waiting for test results to come back, Larry’s airway closed on him and he could not breathe. 911 was called and paramedics were dispatched to the urgent care facility. Paramedics spent several minutes attempting to get Larry’s airway open with no success. Larry was transported by ambulance to the hospital where an emergency Tracheotomy was completed in order to open his airway. The surgery was successful, however due to low oxygen for a period of time Larry has suffered what is called an anoxic brain injury. Larry has been in the hospital for almost three months now with a Trach in his throat, unable to speak or get out of bed. Larry is responsive at times, but it is unknown how much brain activity he has at this time. When he was first admitted to the hospital I was off work for three weeks. When I did go back to work it was very difficult because I didn’t want to leave my fiancé who is my Best Friend. Right now my life is work and the hospital. I visit Larry at the hospital every day. On my days off from work I spend the night with him. Since he has been in the hospital, I normally only get four hours of sleep a day. When I’m at the hospital, I try to assure Larry that I love him, I will stay by his side and that he is a fighter. Larry was planning to start the 10 week program at Farrell’s prior to his hospitalization. We were both wanting to get into the best shape for our wedding in Jamaica on December 15th of this year. December is an emotional time for me because Larry and I will not be able to get married on our original wedding date. It helps me to know that the wedding is not canceled, just postponed. I am in the process of trying to get Larry into a rehab facility in Ankeny called “On with life”. They specialize with individuals who have brain injuries. I have heard so many great things about this facility. I’m looking forward to working with them for a full recovery of my fiancé, my Best Friend."
Please stop by FXB Urbandale, call, email or send your donations starting today. Cash, checks and gift cards are accepted.
