Caring for Corinne

As a sister to the girl who is always helping others, generously giving her all to anyone with a need, it feels backward to be asking for help for Corinne. Honestly, I can let you know friends, she broke down in tears while we talked about setting up a gofundme for her. This has been a long, hard, painful physical trial. And, it's only just begun.
Corinne was born January 9, 1981. Before the days of routine prenatal ultrasounds, no one knew that this baby girl who looked normal on the outside had severe congenital urological defects, and was essentially being poisoned by her own kidney. My parents had been told to say good bye to their firstborn, she wouldn't survive, but the Lord had other plans, and had an amazing team of surgeons at UCSF that saved her life. By the time she was two months old she had been through more medical and surgical interventions than most people experience in a lifetime. She was a true miracle.
Fast forward through a childhood with urological follow up, and many UTI's, she otherwise led a completely normal, healthy life. Even into young adulthood and motherhood, her kidney remarkably held it's ground like the little engine that could. It didn't work well, but never fully gave out.
The last few years have proven much harder. Corinne has had more frequent, intense infections, and has required stents to keep her right ureter open. Her right kidney and right ureter no longer function or drain. She ended up with resistant E.coli in the kidney, and for over two months has been on strong oral antibiotics to combat the bacteria that her kidney cannot flush out. She is now being seen by a Urologist at UCSF, and underwent surgery to place a nephrostomy tube into the kidney. The plan is to drain the kidney with the nephrostomy until all infection is cleared, and surgery for removal of the kidney and ureter is on the calendar for June 6.
Corinne has been in chronic pain for months, and that has only been exacerbated by the nephrostomy. This has been absolutely incapacitating for her, and the stress on her 4 children and husband, Chad, has been great. Being unable to care for her family right now has been emotionally devastating. Along with added bills from multiple hospital trips and procedures outside of their deductibles, the stress just compiles.
We serve an Almighty God, and I know he has incredible plans for my precious sister. But, knowing that a bigger surgery and more difficult recovery are ahead, make my heart just break.
I would love to help Corinne and Chad not have to worry about putting hospital bills on a credit card. I would love for Chad to not have to worry about yard work, and house cleaning, and babysitting needs this summer while he goes to work. The only thing they should be concerned with is getting Corinne through this next surgery, and spending as much quality time together as as family that they can. Any amount you can give to bless this incredible family will be appreciated more than words can ever describe. This trial has felt insurmountable, and yet Corinne keeps a faith and peace that can only come from above.
Thank you, friends. Thank you, thank you, thank you.
