Hey friends! Want to chip in to fund an animated lyric video for my song, “Blessed Unrest”? :-D
We’ll fully fund it if we raise $1,800 by July 22. That’s only 36 people giving $50 each!
You can listen to “Blessed Unrest” here:
So, what IS an animated lyric video?
It’s like a live-action music video, but with animations!
One thing I love about animated lyric videos is that it’s easy to follow the lyrics. :-)
My absolute FAVORITE example is “Stars” by Ayla Nereo:
In fact, I loved this video so much that I got in touch with the animator — Jake McBride of Animind Studio — and he agreed to work with me!
Why am I making this?
Two reasons:
1. To celebrate and call attention to some of the most important social justice and liberation movements of our time.
2. To bring my song “Blessed Unrest” to life in a whole new way — and get it out into the world at the next level.
Since I released “Blessed Unrest” several years ago, I’ve heard countless stories of folks all over the USA (and possibly beyond!) singing it in their own communities.
This makes my heart… SO… happy.
It’s clear to me this is a song that can go places… and I just want to do everything in my power to help make that happen.
Where will all the money go?
Every cent goes to the incredibly talented Jake McBride at Animind Studio.
I am so proud to support independent artists like Jake who are courageously making a living with their art.
If we exceed the goal, every additional cent will help fund my NEXT video — “Small Sweet Step.” (Eeeee!! I can hardly wait… but I know, I know, one small sweet step at a time! LOL!)
What’s the theme for the video?
I thought you’d never ask!!! :D
I am SO freaking excited about this.
It came to me on Passover.
I was attending an awesome community seder, and listening to a BEAUTIFUL sermon by Rabi’a Keeble, Founder of Qal’bu Maryam Women’s Mosque, “America’s first all-inclusive mosque”.
She spoke about how, just as Moses was attentive enough to notice God speaking to him through the burning bush, we ALL have our “Burning Bush” moments in which we wake up to our true calling, a calling of liberation and freedom.
As I heard her speak, instantly the theme for the “Blessed Unrest” video came to me:
The universal fire of love and truth,
working through everyday heroes past and present,
as they help ignite the one timeless movement for a just and thriving world.
Here’s the synopsis of the narrative:
Five changemakers in different times and places each experience the “fire” of love and truth kindled within them.
They are each called on a journey to transform their world, a journey that calls on them to be a vessel for something greater to happen through them.
Each faces trials and tribulations, but finds the resolve to keep going — and ultimately realizes they are not alone.
Their courage ignites those around them, and suddenly it’s clear that it’s not about the individuals but about the movements — and that these are not separate movements in separate times and places… but rather ONE movement across time and space, fueled by one universal force that is working through ALL of us, to realize the dream of a just and thriving world.
Our five changemakers and movements are:
1. Moses and the Israelites’ movement for freedom from slavery
2. Nelson Mandela and the movement for racial integration
3. Tarana Burke and the Me Too movement to end sexual violence
4. Greta Thunberg and the global climate movement
5. The Parkland Youth and the movement for gun safety
SO… what do you think? :D
If this video inspires you as much as it’s inspiring me, I invite you to contribute whatever amount would bring you the most joy!
Love,
Zo
p.s. - At the end of the video and in all the accompanying text, I’ll be directing viewers to donate to and get involved with the featured social movements!
