Bless the Silverman Family this Christmas

Donation protected
Everyone who knows the Silvermans knows what a strong, gracious, and compassionate family they are. For over 15 years they’ve been a shining example in the special needs community of grace under pressure, love without expectation, and unwavering support for those in need.

On December 10th, their son Benjamin had a severe and unexpected seizure that caused him to go into cardiac arrest. He was resuscitated and taken to Doernbecher’s Children’s Hospital, where he is currently being cared for in the ICU.
Although he is making significant progress, there is still a long road ahead, including a very serious surgery scheduled for tomorrow to implant an internal defibrillator. Because Benjamin has a very serious heart condition, there is concern and worry regarding putting him under anesthesia.

Nicole and Ben have always created a community of love, compassion, empathy, and joyful giving to support those in need. This year, we want to gather around the Silverman family and bless them so they can concentrate on Benjamin’s medical needs. Both parents need to take time off work as Benjamin heals and recovers, and we’d like to help ease the financial burden as much as possible so they’re able to focus on caring for Benjamin and their two other children, Dionte and Shanelle.

As a parent, there’s no way to prepare for events like this. All you can do is hold onto your faith, your family, and your community, and face each day with courage.

This Christmas season, we would love to encourage our community to come together and lift up the Silverman family, the same way they’ve lifted up so many of us in years past.

Many stories are told of Saint Nicholas, but the common theme is one of supporting those in their time of need. Those who have children with special needs, disabilities, or even those who have cared for a loved one during a medical emergency know that the crisis isn’t over just because the patient comes home. Often, that’s where the real work and healing begins. In the spirit of the season, let’s give generously and help ease the pressure so Ben and Nicole don’t have to worry about anything other than their family.
