LET'S HELP THE LABORTE FAMILY!

In 2018 Beth began dealing with pain and female issues, which has been ongoing for over a year. Because her husband’s job does not provide affordable insurance, she was unable to seek good medical care for her problems. She saw a few physicians who insisted she had normal female problems and that a routine hysterectomy would resolve the issues. She was waiting for January 2021 in order to buy affordable health insurance. With the January date in mind, yet another physician finally scheduled Beth for a routine hysterectomy.
In mid December 2020, Beth became extremely sick and was in so much pain she had to go to the emergency room and was hospitalized for six days. Even without insurance, this was a blessing in disguise! The doctors found her uterus very enlarged with large fibroid tumors they believed to be cancerous. The tumors were also causing a large blood clot to the right ovary that extended far into her abdomen. The blood clot made it too risky for immediate surgery, so after the pain was generally under control, Beth was sent home on blood thinners. Fortunately, within a week, Beth was able to meet with a wonderful GYN oncologist to schedule surgery. On December 22, 2020, Beth’s husband waited for the 2-3 hour surgery to be done, Jed was beyond anxious as Beth’s surgery lasted over 7 hours. Surgery confirmed cancer, and the surgeon was able to remove all but 1 tumor that, due to the blood clot, couldn't safely be removed at that time. We will know more in the coming weeks about plans for further treatment options. Beth will have to follow up with a vascular surgeon for the clot, but we pray that it resolves on its own. If it resolves on its own, the rest of the cancer can be removed. God’s grace is sufficient, and Beth was able to go home Christmas day to see her children!
WHY THEY NEED OUR HELP?
Beth's medical bills have already exceeded $61,000. This does not include the main surgery, treatments and doctor visits to come.
Her husband Jed, has missed a lot of work in order to be there for every doctor's appointment and for the big surgery. God bless his commitment to his wife and his dedication to supporting his family. It has been a fine balance to be his wife’s advocate in the hospital and with doctors, as well as the caregiver and breadwinner for his family. Fortunately, Beth’s mother was able to come from Georgia to help with the children, and with Beth’s aftercare. Unfortunately, Jed’s employer does not provide leave with pay for this type of situation, and when he doesn’t work, he doesn’t get paid. We certainly don't want them to fall behind on the mortgage and bills.
Beth also has severe allergies to foods and needs to be on a strict diet. She is highly allergic to soy (anaphylactic shock allergy). She is also allergic to gluten and dairy. So having the healthy, proper foods that she needs will be necessary.
Beth and Jed have 3 children: Bane 14, Kai 9 and Kaylee 6. This journey has been really tough on them. Beth home schools the children, and God and family are her priorities. While Beth and Jed are able to explain Beth’s illness so the kids understand what is going on, we pray that God will alleviate any burden or worry on their part. Especially in these strange, COVID days, we want the kids to be able to be kids!
We are targeting $100K as a way to pay for past, current and future medical care, medicine, and other needs that may arise during this time. We also ask for your prayers for this amazing family. All that know Beth, knows that she has great faith in God. She is giving, compassionate, loving, and would be right by our side in times of need. She has never met a stranger, and has blessed so many people. We truly appreciate donations of any amount and would value your prayers and notes of encouragement. So please donate today and let's show Beth and her family how much love and support they have.
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts,
