On Thursday, November 20, life changed suddenly for the Burnette family. Maya, their 17-year-old daughter, was diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukemia (AML). She has already begun an aggressive treatment plan, starting with six weeks of in-hospital care as doctors work diligently to attack the cancer and support her body through this fight.
As you can imagine, this journey comes with overwhelming emotional, physical, and financial challenges for Kamilah and Chris and their entire family. So many people have asked how they can help, and this is one way to help ease the burden of what’s ahead and join alongside Maya and the Burnettes to fight this battle. Chris and Kamilah will be traveling back and forth from the hospital daily, balancing work, caring for their son Nathan, and navigating long days at Maya’s bedside. Your generosity can help lighten the load in simple but meaningful ways.
This will be a long road to healing for Maya. The treatment is incredibly aggressive and intense. Updates will be made regularly as new information and opportunities to bless them is shared. The long-term commitment beyond the first few weeks will be the biggest blessing to continue the care and support they’ll need to get through this unimaginable time.
Every gift, every prayer, and every act of kindness brings comfort and hope to the Burnettes as they face the unknown. Thank you for standing with them, loving them, and helping carry them through this season.
Your support means more than you know. ❤️
