Current Cottey College and long-time Rain Makers CSM basketball coach Evan Belk and his wife, Dayzah, are expecting their first child in December, a little boy named Arlo! Medical tests recently revealed that Arlo has spina bifada, and the family has been referred to Texas Children’s Hospital in Houston, Texas, for extremely specialized care. Dayzah and Arlo will undergo several days of testing to determine the appropriate course of treatment, which will likely include in-utero surgery intended to greatly reduce or even reverse the effects of Arlo’s condition. If deemed feasible, the surgery will be performed by the end of August.
The medical options being proposed are nothing short of miraculous, and Evan and Dayzah are extremely hopeful at the chances for success, but the potential costs are daunting. Depending on the test results and course of treatment, the family will be in Houston somewhere between 3 days and 3 months—possibly for the remainder of Dayzah’s pregnancy. As you might expect, the costs of travel, lodging, and treatment are likely to be significant.
Evan and Dayzah are a wonderful young couple with hearts for young people that promise to make amazing parents. They are grateful for the prayers and encouragement they’ve received since receiving this very difficult diagnosis. Would you consider donating anything you can to help offset the costs they face over the next several months? All funds raised will go toward upcoming travel and treatment expenses. Any additional money raised will be applied to Arlo’s treatment and therapy after birth.
Your generosity is greatly appreciated.
With gratitude,
The friends, family, and players (past and present) of Evan and Dayzah Belk
