As many of you are probably already aware, Jayne has encountered many health trials in the past few months and has been experiencing frequent and unexplained fevers. On November 15th, Jayne had a stroke and was transported by ambulance from the Oskaloosa hospital to Iowa City. As she arrived in Iowa City she had many teams of doctors who were running tests, trying to figure out what caused the stroke. An Echocardiogram found the aortic valve was not functioning properly and an infection (Endocarditis) was found on the valve. This infection traveled from her heart to her brain, which caused the stroke.
After meeting with various teams of specialists (neurology, urology, hepatology, infectious disease) and a cardiac surgeon, it was determined that the open heart surgery needed to repair the damage to Jayne’s heart, would not be recommended at this time as the risk factors would be too high due to pre-existing conditions. Jayne is now at home and is receiving strong doses of antibiotics through a PICC line (Peripherally Inserted Central Catheter, which gives access to the large central veins near the heart and is generally used to give medications), in hopes that this will help control the infection.
As you can imagine, all of the health problems that Jayne has had to deal with these last few months have been very taxing in many ways. Guy has been a rock for Jayne through this journey and has stood right beside her the entire time. This has required Guy to be away from his job for many weeks, which has caused some financial stress. Currently, Guy is needing to be home to help administer Jayne’s medicine through the PICC line. Testing, hospital stays, and many trips back and forth to Iowa City have also built up additional medical and travel expenses.
First and foremost, please join us in prayer as Guy and Jayne continue on in this journey. We are praying for a miracle for Jayne. We are praying specifically that God would completely heal the infection in Jayne’s heart and that her aortic valve would be fully restored. We know God is able and He is good. He is the ultimate healer and can do wonders.
If you feel led to and are able to give to Guy and Jayne, I know that it would greatly bless them. This would help take some pressure off of the finances, so that they can focus on Jayne’s treatment and recovery. This will also allow Guy to feel like he can continue to be home with Jayne during this trying time, without having to worry about missing work with no pay. Guy and Jayne are two incredibly special people who have touched the lives of so many over the years. May this be a time when we can give back to them and bless them beyond anything they can imagine. Please continue to pray for healing and if you feel prompted, consider giving.
Thank you!
