In October of this year, the lives of Angel and Matthew will forever change. As excited as they are to welcome their son Gentry into the world, they are also filled with fear and apprehension. Earlier this year, during a routine ultrasound, they were made aware there was a problem with Gentry’s heart. That problem was later diagnosed as Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome, or HLHS.
HLHS is a very complex and rare heart defect that requires several life saving surgeries during the first year of life. Gentry will be born hundreds of miles from home, at the University of Alabama in Birmingham. There will be numerous trips to UAB preceding his birth in October. During the first week of his life, he will require a complex open heart surgery followed by several weeks of hospitalization.
As you can imagine, this can be quite costly for Angel and Matthew. In addition to travel expenses and medical bills, Angel will not be able to return to work. This will Leave Matthew responsible for the household, all while taking time off himself. Gentry’s parents are also hoping to store his umbilical cord blood. It may lead to life saving procedures in the future, such as a heart transplant.
We would love to ease the financial burden of Angel and Matthew, so they can focus on Gentry’s health and well-being. Please consider contributing. Any and all donations will make a tremendous difference on this difficult journey.
Thank you and God Bless!! ♥️
