Where is your money going?

Your contributions will directly support the purchase of ingredients to make our wonderful Blemana Bread, as well as merchandise, which will serve as props and costumes (as well as purchasable merchandise later on). It will also be used to keep our cast & crew fed (although the Blemana Bread alone should surely suffice).

Logline:

When their viral 'Blemana Bread' recipe traps them in a cycle of growing demands, a baking show star must escape the show before it consumes their sanity.

Synopsis:

Toby, a young host of a humble baking show, demonstrates a simple blueberry-lemon-banana loaf recipe, otherwise known as “Blemana Bread”, which becomes an unexpected sensation. After the surprisingly successful episode, the director, Channing, insists on repeating the same segment again and again, capitalizing on the new rising star that is Blemana Bread, not for its taste but for the pure concept of it. What starts as a cheerful baking demonstration quickly becomes monotonous. Toby grows tired of the endless baking while Channing pushes harder for consistency, merchandising, and branding around the bread.

As the repetition continues, Toby begins to feel trapped in the cycle, losing enthusiasm and questioning why they are a part of the show to begin with. Any attempt at resistance from Toby is no match for Channing’s demanding control, insisting that Toby continue making Blemana Bread under contract. One night, the situation takes a mysterious turn, and the loaves themselves begin to speak, urging Toby to help fulfill their destinies through being consumed. In this eerie, dreamlike shift, Toby discovers an unusual bond with the bread and hatches a desperate plan to break free from the grueling repetition.

With the help of the loaves, Toby poisons the Blemana Bread so that the crew will finally eat it. After throwing a chaotic, flour-filled fit of passion, Toby is able to convince the crew to reluctantly try the bread, only to start dropping like flies around Toby. Victorious but unhinged, Toby embraces their strange creations, humming the show’s theme along with the remaining deformed Blemana Breads that were never sentient to begin with. The script blends satire and horror, transforming a wholesome baking show into a surreal commentary on exploitation and creative freedom.

Director's Bio:

Toby Bresnahan, born in Chicago and raised in Elmhurst, Illinois, is a passionate and ambitious filmmaker and director. They began creating videos in elementary school, quickly becoming enthralled with crafting playful narratives, directing actors, and bringing people together through film. Always eager to take on daring projects, like producing their own dating show, putting together stop-motion shorts, or creating whimsical music videos, they believe that creativity and determination can overcome anything.

They are particularly passionate about their project, “Blemana Bread,” with its chaotic premise and incorporation of their new(ish)found love of baking. Toby hopes everyone will be taken by the storm that is blueberry, lemon, banana bread, a combination that may be as dangerous as it is flavorful.
