Blaze's Fight for Life After Surgery Mishap

Donation protected
If anybody knows me, I’m not one to post my business or ask for things from other people ever. But tonight, we are asking for prayers for our dog Blaze who is fighting for his life right now.

Blaze got neutered this morning at the Humane Society of South Mississippi. I picked him up at 3:10 pm and was told his procedure went good and he was ready to go home and was sent home from there. Never would I have imagined within the next hour our dog would be dying.

At 4:52, I got a call from a family member that Blaze was bleeding everywhere and was losing excessive amounts of blood and dropping blood clots. I rushed home to check on him and see what was going on. As soon as I saw Blaze I knew this wasn’t normalize and we could not waste any time getting him to a vet so I rushed him to the Emergency Vet. I checked on him the entire car ride to the vet (a 10 minute drive) and he was losing consciousness from the blood loss and passed out at one point.

Once I got to the emergency vet the fight to save Blaze’s life began. He was immediately taken to the back and I was thinking of everything that could have went wrong and could not wrap my head around how this has happened to Blaze in such a short time period.

After a few minutes, the vet identified the issue. She informed us that the “tube” that connects to the dog and the dogs testicles is what gets operated on during a neuter. During this operation, the vet is supposed to pull the testicle and snip the tube, then tie the tube (almost like a tourniquet) then the animal gets stitched up. The vet at the Humane Society who operated on Blaze did not tie the “tube” correctly which is what led to the excessive bleeding. At one point the vet at the Emergency Hospital told me Blaze was turning pale, bleeding out, and dying from blood loss. At this point we were faced with the difficult decision to humanely euthanize Blaze or pay $1840 to perform life saving surgery ($2400 if he needed a blood transfusion).

Thankfully Blaze was able to go through this surgery without a blood transfusion.

As of now Blaze is out of surgery but will stay the night at the Emergency Vet to ensure no complications arise. Although he’s doing better he is not out of the woods yet.

We are asking for prayers and donations to help cover this costly nightmare. Any dollar amount helps and if you are unable to donate we just ask for your prayer! We love all of our dogs like children and consider them part of the family. Blaze is still young and should be able to enjoy many many more years of life. It’s so scary that what was meant to be a simple procedure almost cost him his life thanks to the Humane Society
