Help us Build Legacies And Serenity, Together!
What's the idea?
Innovative marketplace-style events held in venues easily accessible to the elderly (Assisted Living Facilities, Senior Centers, 55+ Communities, etc.)
What for?
To restore the association between “Health” and “Happiness” by building meaningful bridges across generation gaps. We seek to “bring the community to the elders” in an arena that promotes peace and joy, both to replenish their happiness (while encouraging participation in neuro-stimulating interaction) and absorb wisdom for today’s youth (while imbuing a sense of purpose and direction in life).
Station Examples:
ACTIVITIES
o Antique station - collect and trade items that show a touch of history “Pawn Stars” style
o Classic Game station - cribbage, Connect 4, Jenga, checkers
o Craft station - learn and/or make your own (knit, crochet, bead art, etc)
o Fun with Cards - quick Blackjack games, magic tricks, etc
o Storytelling booth youth interview elders to record or reinterpret their tales artistically
ENTERTAINMENT
o Local live performers musician/band, dance, mime, improv comedy
o Silent auction - items donated by local businesses/artists/crafters
GOODIES
o Beverages - local coffee/tea shop, infused water, smoothies, kombucha, etc
o Culinary - caterers, bakers
o Featured Farmer - or local agricultural school / group
PROCEEDS will be directed towards projects and research to improve Neurodegenerative Conditions of Aging (such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s) and Suicide Prevention.
