"Blasphemy" is a poetic, surrealist, spiritual drama that unfolds across shifting realms of the spiritual, the emotional, and the everyday. MC, a 23-year-old Black woman burdened by the weight of expectation, judgment, and silence, finds herself in a metaphysical courtroom—her supposed accuser? God. As she pleads her case for the crime of blasphemy, the trial becomes a meditation on the messiness of modern faith, the hunger for intimacy, and the desperate need for answers in the face of what feels like silence from heaven.
Cutting between sacred spaces—church pews, bedrooms, blunt-filled nights, and a quiet sitting room where she confronts God face-to-face—MC navigates the tangled lines between holiness and humanity, rebellion and reverence.
Her story is punctuated by vulnerability, rage, longing, and unapologetic honesty as she tries to reconcile who she is with who she’s expected to be.
Both a love letter and a lament, Blasphemy asks: what does it mean to love a God who feels so far away, and is it truly a sin to ask why?
This work explores the emotional landscapes of Christianity through surreal and intimate storytelling. Using natural light, quiet pacing, and dreamlike imagery, it aims to blur the line between memory and imagination—inviting audiences to see strength in vulnerability.
This film, at its core, is bare emotion. Every part of its making has come fully from my heart, to the point where it is an act of worship. This film is a sacrifice to GOD. For the parts of me that are MC: afraid, hurt, but most of all- seeking connection.
So, for a film that means so much outside of itself, every donation means much more than the dollar sign attached to it. Every cent is a sacrifice. Every dime is a form of worship. So I beseech you-
The scripture puts it better than I ever could.
“O magnify the LORD with me, and let us exalt his name together.” - Psalm 34:3
