Blaques Second Chance

Hi everyone. My name is Tamara Langston. I live in Phoenix, AZ and my 3 and a half year old Rottweiler (Blaque). She was left with me by a friend and she stole my heart from the moment I laid eyes on her three years ago. She just loved to play and run and was such a snuggle bug, which she still is by the way. She came into my life and changed my whole outlook on life. Everything became so much happier and had so much more joy. All of a sudden, everything I did had to be better because i had to think of what was best for baby girl.

One evening we were out walking (she was 1 and a half) and she got excited playing on our way to the park, wiggled out of her collar, and ran across the street towards the park and was hit by a car. The car kept going and she was left laying lifeless in the street. This is an image I will never in my life get out of my head. I ran into the road trying to flag down other cars so as not to get us both hit while I tried to drag her out of the road. Long story short, my phone was dead, it was dark, and no one was stopping... almost an hour later, the police finally stopped and gave us a ride to the emergency animal clinic. She ended up with two broken arms, a few missing teeth, and some stitches. She recovered from this like a champ! So...

A year and a half later, we were on a play date with a friend and their two dogs who she played with all the time. As we were leaving, I saw her limping a little... I didn't think much of it and we went on about our week. After a few weeks, it wasn't getting any better, so we took her to the vet. They had to put her under as she is very big and was scared of the X-ray machine. They told me that she had torn her cruciate ligament, which is the same as us tearing our ACL. They priced us beyond belief for the repair surgery and gave us some pain meds. We took her for a second opinion and got the same answer.

I have filled out applications for every program in the state that helps with funding for medical and emergencies with animals. I have tried natural herbal remedies for her pain. I have given her everything you can imagine from over-the-counter and things you can order on the internet for joint and muscle repair and for pain. I have her in a very expensive brace, but her mobility and walking are just getting less and less by the day. The doctor said eventually her leg will give out and the same will happen to the other one as she is putting all her weight on her one good leg since her two front ones have been broken and the back is torn. (Immobility in large dogs leads to obesity, diabetes, hip and joint problems, high cholesterol, and many other health issues). So Not moving so much, she is gaining weight, moving slower, and I can see her happiness for life just fading as she watches the other dogs out walking when we sit outside. Or when she hears other dogs playing and we can't let her out to play with them. She gets so excited just to go out to potty that she tries to jump around all happy and can't and just sits down with this sad look in her eyes. I can see she is in pain every second of every day and it breaks my heart.

So please, if anyone reads this, please know that I am begging for help for my baby girl. I do not know where I would be had she not come into my life and changed my way of living, thinking, loving, and my whole world. She has taught me what true patience and love really is and I want to make her as happy as she has made me. She is so young still and full of life. She has nothing to give but love and companionship. Her quality of life should not be cut in less than half already. She is a blessing to me and everyone who knows her and I just want to give her the best life possible because that's what she deserves.

It is an honor to be her human in this life and I really do hope that all dogs go to heaven so I can have her in the next one too!!

Thank you for taking the time to read this.
Sincerely,
Tamara, and Blaque
